The Diaspora Co. Story

Founded by Sana Javeri Kadri in 2017 with a single spice and a dream of decolonizing the spice trade, Diaspora Co. is grounded in the flavors, stories, and futures of South Asia. From seed to harvest, the brand partners directly with small regenerative farms to source the freshest, most flavorful spices on the market—while paying living wages and investing in long-term farm infrastructure. Rooted in queerness, culture, and community, Diaspora Co. is reimagining what it means to be “Made in South Asia.”

Each spice is harvested for peak flavor and aroma, then freshly milled in small batches to preserve its full potency. Diaspora Co. works with over 150 farm partners across India and Sri Lanka, paying an average of 6x the commodity price to support regenerative agriculture and seed sovereignty. Their rigorous sourcing process—from lab tests to field visits—guarantees spices that are wildly delicious and deeply nourishing for the land and the people who grow them.
