BENEFITS

Kitchari—the Indian staple meal made from easily digestible split mung beans, long grain white rice, and spices—has been traditionally used to reset digestion, cleanse impurities, and build the immune system for thousands of years. Ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, kitchari is a versatile, year-round staple food for your Ayurvedic kitchen.
• Split mung beans and long grain white rice are two of the most easily digestible foods that, when combined, form a complete protein.
• Brown mustard and cumin seeds add rich nutty flavor while easing digestive discomfort.
• Turmeric—a popular immune-boosting spice—helps flush toxins from the body while encouraging healthy blood sugar levels already within a normal range.
• Cardamom is a gently warming and soothing spice that supports liver function and healthy cholesterol levels.
• This convenient all-in-one kit only requires water and optional vegetables of your choice for a satisfying, complete meal.
• Organic, non-gmo, non-toxic, made in the USA.

HOW TO USE

First, bloom your spices. In a medium saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of ghee and add the contents of the spice packet. Stir until fragrant and the spices start to sizzle. Be careful not to burn them. Add any desired chopped vegetables to the pan and sauté for 1-2 minutes. Next, pour in the rice/bean blend with 5 cups of water; bring to a boil. For a thinner soup consistency, add 1-2 more cups of water. Cover and reduce heat to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally. Cook 20-30 minutes or until rice and beans are tender and soupy. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Top with optional fresh herbs and a dollop of fresh ghee. Serve warm.
